The Byron Club held their annual BBQ at the Acacia Centre, Annesley Woodhouse on Saturday 16th August 2025, which proved to be a huge success. Not only was there music, games and even a bouncy castle, but also an opportunity to make new friends and a donation to a worthy causes on the day.

Bro Jeremy Prosser, the Chairman of the Byron Club provided a wonderful overview of the event.

"What a fantastic day we had at this year's Byron Club BBQ! It was the perfect chance for members to come together, enjoy some great food, plenty of laughs, and for newer faces to finally match names from the group chat with real people. Lots of new friendships were made, and it was brilliant to hear plans already being made to visit each other's Lodges in the months ahead."

"We were delighted to welcome two very distinguished guests: The Provincial Grand Master, Right Worshipful Brother Julian Townsend, who gave a short speech highlighting just how important the Byron Club is to the future of Freemasonry in our Province, and the Provincial Grand Master for the Mark Degree, Right Worshipful Brother Christopher Adkin, a long standing and outstanding supporter of the Club. Their presence and kind words made the day even more special."

"The Acacia Centre in Annesley Woodhouse proved to be the perfect venue, and we'd like to say a huge thank you to their wonderful team for looking after us. A very special shout-out goes to the hero of the day, Dale Shatliff, who not only helped us get everything set up, but then spent the whole day at the grill, serving up amazing BBQ food that everyone enjoyed."

"As always, the BBQ was also our moment to share the Club's charitable giving. This year we were delighted to donate £600 each to Switch Up, the Nottingham School of Boxing and Equation, a Nottingham-based charity that works with the whole community to reduce the impact of domestic abuse, sexual violence and gender inequality. On top of that, our raffle was a big success, raising £171, with £50 going directly to the Teddies for Loving Care (TLC) Masonic Charity."

"Great food, great company, distinguished guests, and generous giving- the Byron Club BBQ really was a day to remember."

Congratulation to Bro Jeremy and all the members of the Byron Club for organising a fantastic event filled with smiles, laughter and generosity- all attributes that help to make Nottinghamshire Freemasonry what it is today.
