What a night to remember at the Mansfield Masonic Hall!
On Saturday 28th February, we welcomed a full house for our annual Race Night – and what an incredible evening it turned out to be.
When we first circulated the invitation, we promised an unforgettable night of thrills, laughter and friendly competition… and thanks to your fantastic support, that’s exactly what we delivered.

From the moment the first race was called at 7:00pm, the atmosphere in the hall was electric. The legend himself – “Honest John Summerfield” – once again proved why he’s the punters’ favourite bookmaker, bringing energy, humour and just the right amount of mischief to the proceedings. The banter was flowing, the cheers were loud, and there were plenty of lucky winners enjoying their moment of glory!
I must extend my sincere thanks to Simon Mattin, John Summerfield and all the Mansfield Charity Stewards team for their hard work behind the scenes. Events like this don’t just happen – they are the result of real teamwork and dedication.

A special mention also goes to Donna, Roy and the team from the Oakham Suite, who kept everyone well fed with an excellent pie and pea supper – a firm favourite and the perfect accompaniment to an evening at the races.
Most importantly, I want to thank all of you – Nottinghamshire Freemasons, your families and friends – who came along and supported the evening so generously. It was wonderful to see the hall absolutely jam packed, filled with laughter, camaraderie and that special spirit of fellowship we value so highly.

Not only was it a brilliant social occasion, it was a total success for Charity. Your enthusiasm and generosity ensured that while we enjoyed ourselves, we also continued our important work supporting good causes across our communities.
These events remind us what Freemasonry is all about – friendship, family and charity, all under one roof.
Thank you for making it such a memorable evening. I’m already looking forward to the next one! 🏇🏆
