Adam’s is a remarkable story of survival after tragedy, of resilience and determination. At the age of just eleven he was knocked down by a car travelling at 90mph in Balderton and was dragged along the road for half a mile.

In hospital he was put into an induced coma for six weeks, suffering multiple injures and brain damage. He astounded his doctors, and at the age of twelve he was receiving speech therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and was eventually able to return to school.

Despite all those early set backs he left school with ten GCSE’s.

5 years ago he started to train as a personal trainer to help inspire people through his own experiences.

He works in care homes, helping the elderly to exercise sitting in their chairs. He takes keep fit classes for clubs and he visits people recovering from strokes accidents and those suffering dementia.

He charges £2.00 only to pensioners, for community groups he charges £ 30.00, and for community groups booking ten lessons he chargers £200.00.

He does not make a profit. The money he does make does nothing more than fill his car with petrol.

Adam’s clientele can be broken down as follows:

The number of participants is around 200.

Broken down as - Young people up to the age of 18 – 20

People with disabilities - 20

Adults age 18-60 - 20

People at risk of social exclusion – 40

People from ethnic minorities – 10

Adam has been granted £3K by PGL to help with the purchase of equipment to assist him in what he does, and to expand his activities further. He would like 2 exercise bikes, floor mats, exercise balls etc.

This man is an inspiration to all around him. He has run the London marathon; he has run the Newark half marathon on more than one occasion

He is currently booked in for a tandem sky dive to raise money for the Newark Children’s bereavement Trust
