Notts Freemasons grant £6000 to local Community Garden scheme

On the 4th May the Chairman of the Provincial Charity Committee John Paul Pawlik, accompanied by Graham Riche presented a cheque for £6000 to Elle Kirkwood from the Arkwright Meadows Community Garden based in the Meadows Nottingham.

Established in 2001 the garden is a thriving community project providing a green oasis within walking distance of Nottingham City Centre.

Elle stated that the Gardens are run by local people and provides the Meadows with a well loved resource which reflects and celebrates its vibrant and diverse community.

She further explained that trained volunteers show members of the local community how to grow organic fruit and vegetables as well as providing gardening skills and education to all ages / abilities, plus a wealth of community focused

activities.

She said the donation would be used to renew the wood timbers which frame and support the many raised beds where produce is grown, a task that has been on hold subject to funding.

She expressed her grateful thanks to Nottinghamshire Freemasons for enabling works to be put in hand.

Graham also presented some TLC fundraising bears to Elle which she offered to raffle for the charity.
