Nottinghamshire Freemasons donate £5500 to the Scouts and Guides Gang Show

The donation was made to support young people aged between 8 and 18 (approximately 150 ) take part in the Nottingham Gang Show, which takes place at the Nottingham Theatre Royal in March 2025 for 6 performances.

Gang Show is inclusive and a safe learning environment for all regardless of their abilities, or personal disabilities.

For 6 months prior to show week, weekly rehearsals are held during which individuals develop performance skills - both vocally and dancing, learn routines, and obtain the confidence to entertain nearly 5,000 people during show week.

If they do not wish to appear on the stage, other opportunities are available including making & painting scenery, making props, sewing costumes, applying makeup during show week, etc.

Any Scout or Guide in Nottinghamshire can take part although they are primarily from the City of Nottingham where financial hardship is common.

The funds requested will allow us to financially support young people by negating the activity fee (£50), provide them with cast t-shirts and hoodies, and all the personal items they will need for show week - jazz shoes, black trousers, and sometimes personal hygiene items.

One to one support and tuition is provided to young people with ADHD and other similar disabilities.  In our view, finance should not be an obstacle to taking part.

Nottinghamshire Freemasons through the Provincial Charity Committee wholeheartedly agree
