Over 40 dementia sufferers and their carers will enjoy a Christmas party on Tuesday thanks to a donation from Newark Freemasons to cover the cost of food, drink and live entertainment.

Meeting every Tuesday at the Bridge Community Centre on Lincoln Road, the Memory Café is a relaxed place for people with dementia and their carers to meet and socialise.

They enjoy a variety of quizzes, games and a good old singalong and there’s always a warm welcome, a cuppa and a cake.

Newark Memory Café founder and co-ordinator Mrs Pam Hall thanked W Bro John Sentance, Secretary of the Newark Freemasons Charity Committee, and said that the assistance was very much appreciated. She went on to say that the group would especially like to hear from anyone with experience in working with dementia who might like to volunteer as a helper. Mrs Hall can be contacted by email at:

In presenting the cheque to Mrs Pam Hall, W Bro Sentance said that they were pleased to be able to support an organisation like the Memory Café which does such good work in the community and invited similar applications from other community groups which should be made:
