Meet the new Provincial Grand Master

Our New Provincial Grand Master

is welcomed at the Garden of Reflection

This year’s event at the Garden of Reflection at Portland College on Sunday 24 August, was blessed with glorious weather so typical of the summer of 2025.

With the garden in full bloom, it enabled the Provincial Grand Master, RW Bro Julian Townsend, his wife Diane and their daughter Francesca, who were guests of honour of the committee, to meet those who attended in a very pleasant setting.

Brethren of the Province of Nottinghamshire were eager to meet the new PGM and his family and this resulted in a very lively reception in the garden where the drinks, non-alcoholic of course, flowed to quench thirsts on a warm day.

The gathering then retired inside for a fantastic selection of home-made scones and cakes and of course copious amounts of tea.  There were several who left the event with clothes that were a little more snug than when they arrived!

The Garden of Reflection Committee was absolutely delighted that the tombola it had organised raised £500 for the 2029 Festival.  Once again the generosity of Nottinghamshire Freemasons was very much in evidence.

The committee was keen to point out that the garden exists for all members of the Province and their families and offers a quiet space allowing both for reflection and an escape from today’s fast-paced world.

On the wall of the Garden of Reflection are a (sadly) increasing number of memorial Plaques , remembering deceased Masons

It is however, a very special place to sit and remember dear friends and fellow Freemasons who have passed away, and it is indicative of the special friendships that develop between Freemasons and their friends and families

The new PGM will continue to promote the high standards of care and support that Freemasonry provides the public of Nottinghamshire by its widespread support of Charities and community initiatives

The 2029 Festival mentioned above will eventually provide significant funds to continue our support of the wider Community, a cause deep in the hearts of Nottinghamshire Freemasons

Pictured are views of Masons and their families, enjoying the gathering and getting to know their new leader and his family and the massive contribution of the Past Provincial Grand Master and his wife Ann who worked tirelessly along with the Garden of Reflection Committee to stage such a special event as well as their continual maintenance of the Garden of Reflection
