About the event
The Treasures of English Freemasonry 1717 – 2017 was published to coincide with the Tercentenary of the formalization of the Craft in England. The concept of a history based on a collection of representative objects covering a particular period or institution may not be original but is remarkably effective.
The term ‘treasures’ is not just a matter of monetary value but is defined in its widest possible context, not least because many of the objects are priceless, unique and irreplaceable. All however can be related to the footprint left by our predecessors, some deep and meaningful others shallow and fleeting, but all of some significance in their own way.
The talk gives a resume of the story behind the book from the initial idea through to its publication with 300 pages and illustrated with high quality images of over 250 objects; and concentrates on just ten ‘treasures’ that may be considered Masonic objects of significance in the wider world: Beyond the Bubble of Freemasonry
Followed by a Festive Board at a cost of £15, to include wine
