A big thank you goes to the Nottinghamshire Masonic Charitable Fund for their fantastic donation of £500 that has enabled the club to purchase new much need equipment, in the form of new mats, the donation has not only helped with the Karate group but other users of the centre who can also benefit. Gai Jin Karate who are based in Bestwood Village Nottingham and are a section of the Bestwood Village Miners Welfare charity.
Gai Jin Martial arts was founded 15yrs ago, and offers martial arts lessons anyone who wants to learn martial Arts, “we have cross section of students, some have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) learning difficulties and Autism (ASD), all have a different skill leaves and different needs”.
While practicing martial arts is an excellent way to improve your physical health and learn self-defence, its greatest advantage is arguably in its ability to help self-discipline skills and teach respect, the ability to maintain control over responses, thoughts, and emotions is of tremendous value.
Chief instructor Sensei Dale Sinclair 7th Dan Shotokan Karate, 2nd Dan Classical Japanese sword, who runs the school along with Sensei John Michalak 3rd Dan Jujutsu, 1st Dan Shotokan Karate with junior Instructor’s Fleur Jardine 1st Dan and Kian James 1st Dan, have all agreed that the gift has enabled us to offer more and a much safer place to train. Fleur says “we used to train on the wooden or carpeted floors and we was always at risk of getting splinters or blisters in/on our feet, but thanks to the Freemasons donation our feet are now safe”.
