Notts Masonic Ladies Saturday Group
The Notts. Masonic Ladies Associate Members Saturday Group have donated a further £2,000 to the Masonic Club, Goldsmith Street Nottingham.
The Group’s Chairman, Mrs Gill Hitch, presented the cheque to W. Brother Nigel Turner (Masonic Club Treasurer) and Mrs Oksana Toolan (Masonic Club Manager) at the Ladies Group’s meeting on 12th March 2016 to celebrate their 20th Anniversary. A celebration cake was cut by founder Committee members Gill Hitch and Sue Flanders and later enjoyed by all. Each member was given an inscribed pen as a gift to mark this milestone. Kevan Goddard kindly volunteered to photograph the occasion.
The Group is open to all Masonic wives and widows. The meetings are held on the 2nd Saturday of each month 10:30am – 12:00 noon at the Masonic Hall, Goldsmith Street, mainly for friendship but also to show their support for Freemasonry. Each month we meet for coffee followed by a speaker. There is, of course, the opportunity to join other members for lunch in the Bar afterwards for those who wish to. Our talks are varied, and this year will include ‘South Africa and the Garden Route’, ‘Benefits of Alternative Therapies’, ‘Dolphins’ and ‘A Woman’s Lot’! We also arrange outings, usually twice a year, which have in the past included summer outings to Stratford upon Avon, the NEC Garden Show and a guided tour of Stoneleigh Abbey and visits just before Christmas to Chatsworth House, Tutbury Castle and the Birmingham Tattoo.
Since forming in March 1996, the Group has made numerous donations to the Masonic Club; which have assisted with the purchase of curtains, the carpet in the Doric Dining Room, cutlery, condiment sets, crockery and a coffee machine for the Belgrave Suite, necessary kitchen equipment and the refurbishment of the ground floor toilets - enabling disabled access.
The latest donation is to be spent updating and furnishing the Belgrave Cloakroom with a full-length mirror, rails and good quality coat hangers, necessary storage facilities, etc. and the purchase of corporate-style planters to enhance the building.
If any Masonic wife or widow would like to visit one of our meetings, please contact Pam Brooker (Secretary) on 0115 9374239 for more details or just come along; you would be very welcome. We are an extremely friendly group and hopefully you will enjoy the meeting and join us as a member!
