Edwinstowe Chapter
New and Not So New

On Thursday 28th January at Nottingham Masonic Hall, there was what proved to be a special evening embracing all of the Masonic traditions, principles and tenets, when Excellent Companion Michael Tomsett MEZ, assisted by Excellent Companions Jollyon Smith acting Haggai and Excellent Companion Chris Starnes acting Joshua, exalted Brother Paul Leverton into the Holy Royal Arch and the Edwinstowe Chapter.

Companion Paul hails from the Edwinstowe Lodge and is a Motor Mechanic and Helicopter Pilot.

Pictured with the Three Principals and Companion Paul is Excellent Companion Graham Aitken PGStdB, who was then presented with his 50 Year Certificate by the Most Excellent Grand Superintendent Richard Gutteridge.

Excellent Companion Graham was initiated into the Welbeck Lodge on 13th October 1962 and Exalted into the Edwinstowe Chapter on 27th January 1966, becoming MEZ in 1978, an acting provincial officer in 1985 and a Past Grand Standard Bearer of Supreme Grand Chapter in 1998.

The MEGS outlined Graham's illustrious masonic career, serving the Province and Masonry at the highest level.

In his own inimitable style, Excellent Companion Graham thanked the MEGS for the Address and Presentation, saying that the night belonged to Exaltee Paul "a high flier" who represents the future, whereas he represented "times past”. He ended with a poem “Hello New Year” and thanked everyone for their love and friendship.
