Excellent Companion Hedley Mason
50 years service
At the Installation Convocation of De Vere Chapter, on 9th May 2016, members and visitors were delighted to witness Excellent Companion Hedley Mason being presented with a certificate marking his 50 years membership of the Royal Arch by the Deputy Grand Superintendent, Excellent Companion Mark Holliday.
Excellent Companion Hedley had started his masonic career in the Province of Durham where he was initiated into the Blaydon St Cuthbert Lodge No 6962 in 1956. He became the Worshipful Master in 1966 and, the month after he became IPM, was exalted into Clavering Chapter No 3290 on 5th April 1966. After relocating to Nottinghamshire, he became a Joining Member of De Vere Chapter in 1980. He was installed as MEZ in 1985, after which he held numerous offices in the Chapter including Scribe E, ADC (twice) and DC three times.
He received his first Provincial appointment as PPrAGSoj. Further promotions followed and he received the rank of PPrGScN in 2000. The Most Excellent Grand Superintendent awarded his Certificate of Merit to Excellent Companion Hedley in 2013.
Excellent Companion Holliday read the citation on the certificate and congratulated Excellent Companion Hedley on completing fifty years of Royal Arch Masonry with great distinction, and for his contribution to De Vere Chapter and the Province.
Later, at the festive board, Excellent Companion Hedley was presented with a set of cufflinks by the new MEZ, Excellent Companion Peter Freeman and given a 50 Year lapel badge by the longest serving member of the Chapter, Excellent Companion David Green.
